PCCCI Assists and Mentors Kids in the CX Manila I Can Fly Program

25/May/2015

PCCCI assisted Cathay Pacific Airways Manila as it launched its first I Can Fly Program on May 25-30, 2015. This pilot program of CX aims to open the minds of incoming Senior high school students to the world of the airline industry. It was participated in by 15 pre-selected UPIS Diliman students who submitted essays on why they should be chosen to participate in the program. The successful 5 day program included tours of the CX Manila offices, from administration, to ticketing, finance, marketing, the call centers and customer relations. The 15 to 16 year olds also had a field trip to the airport, where, led by Mr. Nicholas Bury, Assistant to the Country Manager, they toured the airline counters, gates, and then boarded an aircraft and did a walk around on the tarmac.

PCCCI members, who are all present and former Cathay Pacific flight attendants, mentored the kids throughout the duration of the program.

The many activities the students participated in opened their minds to different careers in the airline industry, not just as pilots or flight attendants, but as engineers, caterers, management, and much more. The kids from UPIS were so grateful and excited at having been chosen to participate in this program, and proved themselves worthy by their enthusiastic participation and bright ideas during the activities.

It was wonderful opportunity for PCCCI to encourage and inspire the next generation to spread their wings in a truly rewarding industry.
